June 23, 2015 E.C Minister of Transport and Logistics Dr. Alemu Sime, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Ziao Ziwan, Chief Executive Officer of Ethio-Djibouti Railway Transport SA Dr. Abdi Zeneb, Ethiopian Policy and Director General of Research Prof. Byeine Petros and other invited officials attended the consultation forum.
The Honorable Dr. Alemu Sime, Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, attended the consultation forum and said that the Ethio Djibouti Railway, Addis Adama Expressway and various constructions are working on the 10-year implementation of the Belt and Road Initiatives. He mentioned for example that especially after the Ethio-Djibouti railway line was built and put into operation, it is benefiting the country by streamlining the country's high income and expenditure items and bringing tangible changes in the economic and social sectors. Honorable Minister Dr. Alemu Sime said, "The Belt and Road Initiatives" will continue to be strengthened as it is based on mutual benefit and co-development between the two countries.Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Xiao Ziwan said that through the Belt and Road Initiatives implemented by the Chinese government, Ethiopia is benefiting more than other African countries in terms of construction and infrastructure. The CEO of Ethio-Djibouti Railway Transport SA, Dr. Abdi Zeneb, explained that the construction of the Ethio-Djibouti railway line is the result of "the Belt and Road Initiatives". He said that 15 percent of the income and expenditure items are transported by train, so the railway line is benefiting the country in the transport sector.
